Carmike History
Carl L. Patrick, Sr. Carl L. Patrick, Sr. Carmike Cinemas when he acquired Martin Theatres from Fuqua Industries in 1982 for a sum of $25 million. In 1982, Martin Theatres operated about 300 cinemas across Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Texas.
The month of December was when Mark Cuban acquired a 9.4 stake in Carmike Cinemas. He bought 1.2 million Carmike shares, which is about $2.8 million.
Over the next few decades, Carmike Cinemas acquired theatres from Rave Cinemas, Muvico Theaters, Digital Cinema Destinations Corporation as well as Sundance Cinemas. In the end, AMC Theatres acquired Carmike Cinemas for around $1.1 billion on December 21, 2016.

Carmike offers a variety of benefits for Carmike Rewards participants. Members will earn 1 point per $1.00 that they spend at the ticket office or concession stands.
Points earned by Carmike Reward Members can be used to exchange for drinks, popcorn and tickets for free, among other things.
Members will need to earn points and exceed reward levels to redeem the items of their preferences. For instance, a member needs 80 points to purchase a small amount of popcorn.
